Empowering Girls and Gender-Diverse Youth to Step Into Young Womanhood/Adulthood
Flourish Education and Mentorship Society offers a variety of program experiences unified by three pillars: Mentorship, Community, and Nature Connection.
Girls and gender-diverse youth in our week-long empowerment programs experience what it feels like to be part of an uplifting and accepting community. Through experiential education, they start navigating topics like body image, media literacy, and mental health in a fun, honest, and safe environment. They also learn skills and tools which enable resilience and leadership as they navigate adolescence.
Every second year, we offer a comprehensive Rite-of-Passage program, where participants receive one-on-one mentorship and embark on a 5-day outdoor adventure. Most importantly, participants continue to be supported after they return home, so growth and confidence are integrated into daily life.
Flourish Education and Mentorship Society also creates custom programs for schools and organizations, traveling to communities to deliver empowerment camps.
1. Mentorship
- Mentorship allows youth to feel really seen and to know they really matter. Spending time with a mentor, they are supported in their personal curiosities and challenges while having a safe window into the adult world.
- Mentors continually tailor activities to individual needs and create experiences where youth's strengths are discovered and validated. Mentors act as a bridge for girls and gender-diverse youth to enter young adulthood and the larger world on solid ground, clear of their worth and incredible potential.
2. Community
- Community is vital to ensure youth know that what they are going through is normal, that they belong and that adulthood is vastly diverse.
- Together we normalize ‘awkward’ discussions on menstruation or crushes. We create a culture of acceptance where diversity - of shapes, sizes, ethnicities, passions and personalities - is deeply celebrated.
- Where mentorship recognizes uniqueness, community fosters unity.
3. Nature Connection
- Being outdoors supports wellbeing, reduces stress, and helps youth feel free to be themselves. Through games, crafts, hiking, and reflective exercises, participants connect deeply with each other while building a relationship with the natural world. These experiences often bring joy, curiosity, and a sense of freedom that is harder to find indoors or online.
- Nature offers gentle challenges that build confidence, body awareness, and resilience. In a setting free from screens and social pressure, youth feel grounded, safe, and able to express themselves fully. Being immersed in the beauty and diversity of the environment also fosters a sense of belonging and inspires care, curiosity, and responsibility for the land and ecosystems around them.
